The Westside Road Private Residence from Healdsburg,California

This lovely contemporary building that seems to disappear into the landscape is a beautiful family residence. The property is located in Healdsburg, California, USA. The house was designed by Dowling Studios. The most interesting detail about this house, besides the design of course, is the fact that it sits so close to that huge slope. I imagine it’s exciting to wake up in the morning, look down and see that image.That’s until you get used with it.

The house sits on a 2240 square foot area. The architects were basically ask to come up with a design for a 2240 square foot custom home and lap pool that would also be sustainable. The house sits on a 22 acre site in a very beautiful area that allows expansive views on the Russian River Valley. Since it’s the only construction in the area, the inhabitants of this house benefit from total privacy. It must be nice to have that but in case of emergencies there’s really nobody to go to. Let’s just hope it doesn’t come to that.

The architects managed to come up with a sustainable design for the residence. They also tried to utilize the most energy-efficient systems and materials. It seems like this attempt for a real success and the project participated in the USGBC LEED for Homes program and has been certified at the Platinum level.{found on archdaily}
