While many regions on Uzbekistan have been modernized, there are still a few regions where traditional architecture and design can still be admired and this also applies to newer projects such as this house. Located in the G‘azalkent mountain area, this country house was designed and built by ARC Architects in 2018. It’s a relatively small and cozy retreat which offers 96 square meters of living space in total. It serves as a seasonal house and holiday retreat and it has a guest suite on the lower level.
Visually, the house shares a strong connection with the mountains visible in the distanceThe main building material chosen by the architects is local stoneThe interior of the house is simple and cozy, featuring stone surfaces complemented by wood
The architecture and the overall design of this house are inspired by the natural topography of the site. Local stone mined in the immediate vicinity of the site was the main building material used by the architects throughout this project. All the different shapes and color tones give the facades a beautiful mosaic-inspired appearance and help it blend into the landscape seamlessly and organically. The design also has a traditional vibe throughout, being inspired by local mountain houses. The interior design and decor are also infused with numerous local influences.
The earthy colors combined with the materials used help the house blend into the surroundingsThe interior spaces are organized on two floors, with the lower level housing the guest area
Like many other houses in the area, this one has ample terrace spacesThe views are definitely a major attraction and the house takes advantage of thisThe open terrace is an extension of the indoor living areas both literally and figurativelyThe stone walls add a lot of character to the house inside and outThe interior design is defined by neutral and earthy colors and large windows that bring the outdoors inThe open terrace maximizes the panoramic view of the mountain range while also bringing in natural lightThe dining area may not look like much but is a wonderful space with lots of character
