Situated on a corner lot of only 20 meters by 60 meters, this concrete house places a big emphasis on the palette of materials, colors, finishes and textures used throughout its design. These elements combined to ensure a strong connection between the building and its immediate surroundings and also helps to facilitate the transitions between the internal and external spaces.
The presence of large glazed panels and big gallery spaces further contributes to the creation of a seamless and natural experience. The house was designed in 2017 by Gianserra + Lima arquitectos and is located on the outskirts of the La Plata region in Argentina.
The house, although quite big, is not imposing in any way but rather modest-lookingThe open patio acts as a transition space between the indoor and the outdoorThe materials, colors and textures were carefully selected to help the house blend into its surroundingsThe rear section of the house is almost fully glazed and open, welcoming views of the backyard indoorsThe spacious ground floor houses the social areas such as the living room, dining room and kitchen
The living spaces are bright and open, featuring full-height windows and sliding glass doors
The interior spaces are organized on two floors with radically different proportions. The ground floor is large and spacious and contains all the social spaces, some of which are open and some of which are closed. The transition between them is smooth and seamless, just like the transition between the deck and the backyard swimming pool and garden area. By comparison, the upper floor is small, compact and considerably less transparent, containing the private spaces. Nevertheless, the relationship with the outdoors remains strong.
The backyard swimming pool is positioned along one of the side walls, leaving room for a manicured lawnThe architects used a variety of different concrete textures mixed with wooden surfaces to give the house a simple yet unique lookThe social areas are seamlessly connected to covered patio spaces which in turn open up to the backyardThe spacious ground floor extends across the width of the site, ensuring maximum privacy for the rear sectionThe use of simple and pure lines and materials throughout the house create a mysterious as well as authentic vibeThe simplicity which defines the interior design extends outside and manages to also encapsulate the backyard
