An Old Agricultural Barn Turned Into A Modern Studio

In order to fully grasp what this project is all about we should start from the beginning when Richard Parr Associates started restoring and transforming a farm area from the 19th century located in the United Kingdom. This place overlooks Richard Parr’s own home which is situated in the same area.

An old grain loft, one of the last structures in need of renovation, was chosen next. This was to become a new studio with a space to have meetings with clients, a library and more area to work in. Like they did previously, the team wanted to combine old and new elements in their design and to preserve the original when it was worth doing so. In just 10 months the old grain loft was transformed into a beautiful and inviting studio with a light-filled interior.

The new studio has a welcoming entrance on the ground floor which leads straight up into a meeting area. It’s not a big space but it has large windows and a high ceiling which really help to make it feel a lot more spacious. There’s a big table at the center of the room with a glass top. This helps to make the space feel airy even more. When it’s not used for meetings with clients which space can also serve as a sort of informal break room.

The other part of this studio is another workspace. In contrast with the meeting room, this section is a lot darker. It has dark grey rubber flooring, black leather chairs and a sofa as well as a small black steel fireplace. The windows are also a lot smaller in here. This gives this space a mid-century library-like look and a more formal but also intimate appearance. It has a modern-industrial vibe but it’s wrapped in a retro shell.
