Adding a swimming pool to your back yard has never been easier, now that Mudpools came up with a very versatile and easy to implement concept. The innovation is the choice of materials which is quite unusual: shipping containers. This is not the first time we see shipping containers being repurposed into something else. You should check projects like the Containhotel or Dock 45 to see how inspiring the idea can be. With so many unique and interesting projects to be inspired by, nothing seems unusual anymore, not even a pool made out of a shipping container.
This is a swimming pool concept designed to be modular, versatile and widely available
The pools are created out of modified shipping containers measuring 8 x 20 ft (2.4 x 6 m). The design presents multiple advantages such as the fact that the structure can be relocated and transported to pretty much any location worldwide. In addition, a shipping container pool can be set up in minutes and it can also be enjoyed throughout the year thanks to the built-in heater.
A divider can be added to split the pool in two sections, one of which is a hot tub
The heater can increate the temperature of the water to 30 degrees Celsius even in a -10 degrees Celsius temperature. A divider can be added if desired to transform a section of the pool into a hot tub. The installation of the pool is simple and can be done by local professionals or by the clients themselves. The ground needs to be prepped and Mudpools suggests two common and effective methods that can be used: a concrete slab or 8” of compacted gravel. Of course, lots of alternatives also exist.
A variety of pool covers and colors are available for those who want to customize it
The window you see here is a cool feature that comes as a standard element for all container pools. It offers a view inside the pool and it lets light filter through the water. As far the aesthetics go, the standard color of the pools is black but those interested can also request a specific color. The pools can be installed both above and in-ground so a lot of details depend on the type you choose.

Only two service connections are required when installing the pool: natural gas/propane for the heater and 40 amp electrical service and designated ground wire. The cost depends on the size of the pool and ranges between $26,900 and $35,000. The pools are customizable in a lot of ways and they also offer the option to control all the settings via smartphone using an app. This includes settings such as the temperature, the lighting and the jets. Costumers can also choose from a variety of different types of covers for their container pool, ranging from simple snap button models to electronically-controls covers that are also child-proof and retractable.
